What is the Annual Fund and why is it necessary?
Tuition fees alone do not cover the entire cost of educating our students. The balance, currently $1500 per student per year, is made up through endowment, restricted funds and gifts to the Annual Fund. A strong Annual Fund ensures that we will continue to attract promising students and retain a dedicated faculty. In the 2006-2007 year, parents, alumni and others will help us raise $475,000 towards the operational needs of the school.

How are Annual Fund dollars spent?
Gifts to the Annual Fund go directly into the operating budget for the fiscal year in which they were raised. The Annual Fund supports all aspects of the school including curricular and extracurricular programs, technology, faculty salaries, financial aid, building maintenance and facilities upgrades.

Who participates in the Annual Fund?
The success of the Annual Fund depends upon broad support from the Charles Wright community. We seek participation from parents and grandparents of current and prior students, alumni, current and retired faculty and other friends of the school. We also encourage gifts made through foundations and companies offering matching gifts including local United Way campaigns.

How much do people give?
While we hope that you will make CWA a charitable giving priority, the size of your Annual Fund gift is entirely up to you. Every gift makes a difference, and we encourage all levels of support. The average gift is $750.00.

Why should Alumni support the Annual Fund?
As a graduate, do you remember a special teacher or coach who connected with you in a profound way? Since 1957, Charles Wright Academy has nurtured young minds, and we hope that your experience here helped you become who you are today. Your participation in the Annual Fund helps us attract a diverse mix of bright students, retain our exceptional faculty and ensure that CWA remains one of the top college-preparatory schools in the nation.
